Glass lets in light from the Sun,which is absorbed by things in a room, heating them up.
The Light from the Sun has a short wavelength, so it can pass through the glass into a room.
So this 'greenhouse effect' works to heat, and keep heat, inside a building.
But the heatedd things in a room emit infrared radiation of a longer wavelength, which can't escape through the glass-it's reflected back instead, just like in a greenhouse.
