The main prominent voting models are partisan, retrospective, spatial, and directional. The partisan model theory states that people vote based on their registered political party. In contrast a retrospective voter will based on the prior actions of the candidates. The spatial model theory states people vote based on the candidates focus on issues. They sought to vote for a candidate that has similar ideologies as them. In a slight contrast a directional voter will also sought to vote for a candidate will similar ideology as theirs;however, they are more flexible. The candidates ideology does not have to have the same ideology at the moment.
