Bilirubin is conjugated with glucuronide.

Bilirubin (unconjugated) is also formed from this process.

Product can be recirculated back to the liver and into the kidneys to be secreted in urine, or be further metabolised to form Stercobilonogen where it is then secreted out with faeces

Bound in albumin, Unconjugated bilirubin is transported to the liver where it is metabolise

Conjugated bilirubin is metabolised by gut microflora to form urobilinogen

Haem is broken down. This process includes the removal of iron and its transport back to the spleen where it is reused in Haemopoiesis.

Conjugated bilirubin is secreted out in bile and into the small intestine
