normally for disputes under £10,000, apart from cases involving personal injuries or housing where the limit. Generally heard in the county court. People are encouraged to keep costs low by presenting their own case. Costs cannot be claimed if a lawyer is used. They're usually heard in private. A district judge asks questions to help parties better get their points across, district judges have extra training to deal with this sort of case.

This is generally for cases over £25,00 or for complex cases of any amount. can be county or high court, generally high court for ones over £50,00

Most cases are heard in the county court in civil cases but some are heard in one of the three divisions of the high court. the first claim is issued by filling in an N1 form and paying a fee. When the defendant receives the claim form they either admit the claim and pay the requires amount or fill out an N9 form and go to court.
